Welcome

Building the Republican Party starts at home. I want to make sure Texas Republicans never lose focus, and instead keep focused on building strong coalitions that will always be a force for statewide Republicans. I also want to be an advocate for and vocal proponent of the conservative message both here and across the state.

I am seeking to improve the good fortunes of Texas. Let’s work together to strengthen Texas.

    Mr. Spear,
Thank you for your email regarding Schwarzenegger’s comments about fossil fuels. I heard this on the car radio this morning coming to the office. If this doesn’t illustrate how ignorant most of the liberals are, nothing does. The fantasy world he lives in would be starkly different with out petroleum.

      Don,

I always welcome questions about my faith and politics.

I will answer your questions to the best of my ability and I will gladly review your responses. In return, I look forward to your answers the questions that you have asked of me.

      1. Which candidate in the recent primary was good enough to have some of” YOUR money?
In the recent election cycle, my wife and I have donated money to the following candidates
      a. In New Mexico, Steve Pearce for Governor. We have known Steve and his wife for many years.
      b. In Texas, we gave money to the following candidates: Bo French for State Representative (against Charlie Geren), Terry Johnson for
Midland County Judge, Elizabeth Leonard for district court judge (had a primary opponent), Chip Roy for Congress (CD 21 – open), and
Matt Stringer for Ector County Justice of the Peace (Precinct 4 – open seat). I also provided volunteer time for Leonard, Malcolm
Whittaker for Congress (CD 2 – open seat) and Russ Wright for Ector County Commissioner (Precinct 4 – contested primary, but contested
      general election with Democrat incumbent).
      2. What are your top issues on the State of Texas?
      a. Life – very prolife. We have given thousands of dollars to abortion alternative services over the years
      b. Debt/2nd Amendment/Water. Frequent kicker of the ankles and shins of the elected officials over the increasing debt (Road bond and
      Civic Center bond opponent).
      3. What are your top issues for the USA?
      a. Life
      b. Debt
      c. 10th Amendment
      4. Do you have a go to (state) elected rep?
      a. My local state rep is Tom Craddick. He is strong on life issues. We don’t agree on many fiscal issues or the vote for Speaker of
      the House.
      b. My local State Senator is Kel Seliger. We don’t agree on fiscal or life issues.
      c. I worked as General Counsel to State Senator Konni Burton in her first session. She is a good barometer on life and fiscal issues.

I hope this starts the conversation that you wanted.
